Recent Church Stained Glass Restoration: The Rising Church

We’re happy to announce that we’ve recently completed our church stained glass restoration project for The Rising Church. This incredible community church located in Arvada, CO is known for its homeless outreach. After the church had closed one night, someone walking by had thought they heard something coming from inside of the building. They decided to throw rocks through most of the stained glass in order to stop whatever they thought was going on inside. Luckily, there wasn’t anyone there or getting hurt but the result was severely damaged windows.

The Church Stained Glass Restoration Process for The Rising Church In Arvada, CO

Our team removed 90% of the stained glass windows and carefully brought them back to our studio for restoration. We soaked them for up to two weeks in order to remove all the dirt that had built up since they were built in 1913. After soaking, we cleaned and dismantled them. We found replacements for all the damaged glass pieces either from custom manufacturing or from existing glass in our inventory. The hand-painted pieces were also damaged so we used a specialty glass mending technique in order to save as much of the original as possible. One challenge with this project was that the windows were missing pieces of their exterior framing so they could fit the church. We resized the windows, created new lead came, and reinstalled them with a protective polycarbonate exterior layer with ventilation.
